Biography

American funk group led by Earl J. Foster Jr. Producer Difosco T. "Big Dee" Ervin recruited Earl J. Foster Jr. from the band The Fourth Parallel to play and sing a song which Big Dee released on single as Coke (a.k.a. Koke or Smoke), attributed to the made-up artist name Tribe. Following the chart success of Coke, Foster was signed to ABC-Dunhill Records and he changed the name of his band from The Fourth Parallel to Tribe. They recorded two albums for ABC-Dunhill, viz. Ethnic Stew] and Tribal Bumpin'. Tribe then signed to indie label Farr Records, and their final album of the era, Dedication, was recorded with a different line-up. LYRICS

Okay, okay, okay
Eli on the beat
'95 got the heat
Cut it up
Dyllie, yeah
Used to doubt me on the low
Now they know, shawty low
Think I said this line before
Got the hope out the boat
I put fifty in the boat, did a show, fifty mo'
If you love me, let me know
Told the pope, holy smoke

Look, Holy Spirit on that speed dial
Prolly still could spit a heater when I'm senile
Harder than my demons, I got screwtape deep in denial
Being overdosed, just dropped a screwtape for the free now
Okay, get spiffy for the photograph
Middle class minutes, had a blicky in the culdesac
I was in the country with the heathens, we was goin' back
Gold all on my neck, giving worship to a golden calf
Then we never sleep, homie rollin' with insomniacs
Hol' up
Check my fit, look like Johnny Cash
Jesus say you only rich if it's a holy bag
Daddy say man you the "sh-" well you the holy crap
Look, must be careful what you speak
From the heart is where it creeps
I put diamonds on my teeth
'Cause my heart is on the king
Put the team up on my back
They put Tribe all on they skin
I can never take an L
My Messiah always win
Yeah, why He never take it casual
Dilly under center, that mean Keith gon' catch the lateral
Eli got it jumping
Grandpa screaming "Holy mackerel"
Try to keep it calm but we gon' turn the place diagonal
Yeah
We gon' turn the place diagonal
I dropped lowercase to let you know it ain't 'bout Capital
I might meditate then fly away just like Aladdin, oh
Me and Jon we goin' back and forth just like a palindrome

Used to doubt me on the low
Now they know, shawty low
Think I said this line before
Got the hope out the boat
I put fifty in the boat, did a show, fifty mo'
If you love me, let me know
Told the pope, holy smoke

Bwah!
Ayy, wait, with the ooh
Indie tribe, ball like NBA, but I never hoop
'Bout my business with no MBA, I dropped out of school
Ain't no junkie in my DNA, but I got the juice (I got Henny, Henny)
I just, wait, I just feel like Dr. Seuss (Okay)
They ask who, I point out the elephant that's in the room (The room)
Sweep the feet
Harry Potter like it's magic in the bbroom
And my sin been evacuated just like Jesus's tomb (Wow)
Homie this man, he look big man
I got wheels BMX, ain't no kickstand (Nah, nah, nah)
Ain't no feels for my ex, look at this hand (Me, I'm married)
This a gang, ain't no clique, we don't disband
I got plenty hope, I told Satan no
Taking shots, long distance but it's quickscope (Bang, bang, bang, brrrah)
If I got it then I got it, ain't no slip bro
Reppin' west, but it's Daygo ain't no skip bro
Okay my demons fed up
My God said pick yo' head up
I'm married to the dream
Like my first name Coretta
I never chased the cheddar
I'm only getting better
You rappers hella funny
You shining saw Heath Ledger
Almost done
Jon keep goin' with the wind (Yuh)
Holy Spirit, called him up again (Yuh)
Demons try to throw me off the fence (Great)
Stick the landing, all I see is tens (Yuh)
I ain't did "sh-" for the trends (Wow)
God's son, why would I pretend? (Wait)
Village on the wait, pay attention
Can't keep up, take a hint

Used to doubt me on the low
Now they know, shawty low
Think I said this line before
Got the hope out the boat
I put fifty in the boat, did a show, fifty mo'
If you love me, let me know
Told the pope, holy smoke

Eli on the beat
'95 got the heat
I really like the people we're becoming
