Biography
Rhythm & blues group, formed 1958 in Memphis, Tennessee. The Mar-Keys (originally named [i]The Royal Spades[/i]) were the backing band on many early [l=Stax] releases but also recorded singles of their own. In 1962 the rhythm section more or less evolved into [a=Booker T & The MG's] and later the horn section into [url=http://www.discogs.com/artist/Memphis+Horns%2C+The]The Memphis Horns[/url].
