American composer and lyricist for film and stage productions notably 'West Side Story' in 1956, born 22 March 1930 in New York City, New York, USA and died 26 November 2021 in Roxbury, Connecticut, USA. Sondheim has received an Academy Award, eight Tony Awards (including a Special Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre), eight Grammy Awards, a Pulitzer Prize, a Laurence Olivier Award, and a 2015 Presidential Medal of Freedom.
