Biography

Small Engine Metropolis was a NYC indie band active from 1997 to 2002. They played many popular NYC clubs of the time, including CBGB's, Brownies, and The Continental, put on their own independent shows at the Green Door NYC, and shared bills with their contemporaries from the post-hardcore/emo scene, such as Joshua, Miracle of 86 (Kevin Devine), Armor for Sleep, and Ex-Number Five. Before forming Small Engine Metropolis, the members were active in the NY hardcore, punk, and post-hardcore scenes of the early and mid 1990s. Suh and Kean, the principal songwriters for Small Engine Metropolis, previously collaborated in Sarin, whose self-titled 7" was the first release on Immigrant Sun Records. Sarin were active and toured the East Coast in the mid 1990s, sharing the stage with bands such as Hot Water Music, Lifetime, and Chamberlain. Seth Kean, vocals James Suh, lead guitar Derek Mele, rhythm guitar Phill Legault, bass guitar Pat Troy, drums
