American country music singer and songwriter. born December 30, 1931, Dry Ridge, Kentucky – died September 19, 2004, Nashville, Tennessee. Her grandfather thought she had a lot of energy for a young child, and nicknamed her Skeeter, slang for mosquito. Starting her career at highschool with [a4863104] as the Davis Sisters, with Skeeter adopting Betty Jack's last name, despite their being unrelated. Sister of songwriter [a2152012]. Married to Country Music DJ [a1751777] from 1960-1964 and [a508876] bassist [a430694] from 1987-1996.
