American country music singer and songwriter. born December 30, 1931, Dry Ridge, Kentucky – died September 19, 2004, Nashville, Tennessee. Her grandfather thought she had a lot of energy for a young child, and nicknamed her Skeeter, slang for mosquito. Starting her career at highschool with Betty Jack Davis as the Davis Sisters, with Skeeter adopting Betty Jack's last name, despite their being unrelated.
