Biography

Sinking Steps... Rising Eyes was a seven-piece screamo/post-hardcore band from Sioux Falls, South Dakota. They formed in September of 2001 and disbanded in 2005, during which time they released a five-song EP and a six-song full-length. They went through several lineup changes throughout their existence, mostly due to family responsibilities and school. Eli, Brogan, and Mary were the only constant members. In 2011 the band reunited to record two songs originally written and performed in 2002 and released them on 7" vinyl. In 2024, Steps has reunited to perform Majestic Blue and are continuing to play shows. [u]Members:[/u] Current Members: Eli DeGroff - Guitar Mary Campbell - Piano, flute, keyboards Brogan Costa - Bass Josh Boyd - Drums (2001-2002, 2004, 2024-present) Brandon DeJong - Vocals, melodica (2001-2004, 2024-present) Erin Toft - Vocals (2003-2005, 2024-present) Elizabeth Andrews - Violin (2004-2005, 2024-present) Past Members: Aaron Hagan - Vocals (2001-2002) Seth Dekkenga - Bass (2002) Brandon Aegerter - Drums, percussion (2003) Matt McFarland - Drums (2003-2005) Aaron had previously played in the band [a=Edict of Milan]. Eli and Josh have been playing in the band [a=Roman Ships] since 2008, along with Pat Nelson on bass.
