Biography
Bristol-based guitarist, singer and songwriter. Formed Flat Stanleys with schoolfriend Martin Naughton in 1985. Band described in media at the time as Buddy Holly on speed with precision harmony vocals. Flat Stanleys developed a strong local following and recorded their debut single in 1990 under the tutelage of Bristol producer John Parish. McBride left Flat Stanleys in 1992 to form Wonderful with Mike Eagle (The Review/The Driscolls/UnityStation). McBride co-wrote all of Wonderful’s recorded output with Mike Eagle. Wonderful were regarded as a dynamite live act - in no small part due to the superb drumming of Martin Hutt (ex Jeffrey Lee-Pierce) and the pyrotechnic bass skills of Simon Ward. The band was signed to SwanYard records and were managed by Margherita Hamilton and later Kevin Downing (The Family Cat). McBride has guested on numerous recordings as a guitarist/backing vocalist and still gigs in the Bristol area with various local musicians, including Steve Treble and Damian Pope.
