Biography
Noise Rock / Hardcore band formed in Ashton, Maryland, USA. Active from 1982 to 1988. The band started when teenage friends Jeff Mentges (vocals) and Bob Strasser (bass) met Frank Price (guitar, songwriter). They recorded their first demo tape in early 1983, which resulted in the Teen Love 7" (1983). Strasser had to leave for college, and after the drummer departed as well, Jack Anderson and his friend Greg Miller took their places respectively. This line-up went on to record the band's classic debut album Too Many Humans (1983), and also re-recorded the tracks from the Teen Love 7" which resulted in the Teen Love 12" (1984). Strasser returned from college and re-joined the band, and as him and Mentges wanted to change the band's sound, Price departed from the group. After also replacing the other members the band released their second album, A Dozen Dead Roses (1985). After some line-up changes, they recorded 3 new tracks with guitarist Buck Parr, that were released in the compilation When Death Won't Solve Your Problem (out on [a=Lydia Lunch]'s label). After another complete line-up change, Mentges and Strasser changed the band's sound once more, releasing their third album Tritonian Nash-Vegas Polyester Complex (1987) on [l819]. The new band recorded another album, but T&G refused to put it out deeming it "too weird". They tried to find another label to release the record, but with no success. At the same time their drummer had to leave for college, so Mentges and Strasser decided it was time to break the band up. The 4th LP, was released in 2001 under the title More. Frank Price and Greg Miller both passed away in 1989.
