Biography

My Vitriol are a London based Alt. rock group featuring members Som Wardner (Vocals, Guitar & Lyrics), Ravi Kesavaram (Drums), Seth Taylor (Guitar) and Tatia Starkey (Bass & Backing Vocals). Formed in 1999, the band started as a duo when Som & Ravi met at University, wherein they would record a demo (later EP) "Delusions Of Grander". They would soon recruit Seth & bassist Carolyn Bannister for the recording & release of their debut single "Always: Your Way" b/w "Pieces". From being signed to Infectious Records a year later, the band put out a trilogy of singles; "Losing Touch", "Cemented Shoes" and "Pieces". This would lead up to their debut album "Finelines", which was released in March 2001. "Always: Your Way" would soon after be reissued, as well as the band's biggest single "Grounded". Whilst touring America the record would be re-mixed by US producer Steve Thompson, which led to a two-disc re-issue of "Finelines" (titled "Finelines/Between The Lines") the following year in the UK, featuring b-sides and remixes to bulk out the runtime. After heavy touring and promoting, the band officially went on hiatus in 2002. They soon returned in 2005, offering up the live album "Cast In Amber". Bannister left the group and was replaced by Area 54's Laura Salmon. Throughout the remainder of the decade My Vitriol toured the world, releasing the limited edition single "My Time" under the pseudonym A Secret Society in 2007 as well as the EPs "A Pyrrhic Victory" and "War Of The Worlds" that summer. In 2013 Salmon was replaced on bass guitar by Tatia Starkey. That same year the band announced plans on their sophomore album "The Secret Sessions" via PledgeMusic and was released in 2016 as a fan-only CD. In 2020 the album was made available on Bandcamp.
