Biography

Energetically stylized as MUTEMATH on artwork, initially named MATH, were officially formed in 2002 after Paul Meany and Darren King spent two years collaborating and sharing ideas on various pieces they were working on. The pair recruited Greg Hill and Roy Mitchell-Cárdenas to help record a demo in New Orleans, and Meany took the resulting tracks to friend and producer [a=Tedd T]. Mutemath's sound is an extension of former band [a930599]'s, since all the original Mutemath members (apart from Greg Hill) were members of that group. Earthsuit mixed genres such as rock, reggae, funk, jazz and electronic. Mutemath takes this blend a step further and aim for a more experimental and atmospheric sound, with their newer style as electro-alt rock, incorporating a strong rhymthic component and live improvisation. Greg Hill left the band after Armistice. Todd Gummerman was recruited as his replacement for the Odd Soul tour. Mitchel-Cárdenas left the band in May 2017 and was replaced by Jonathan Allen. Also in 2017, founding member Darren King unexpectedly announced his immediate resignation right before the start of the Play Dead tour. A replacement tour drummer was found in the person of David Hutchison (also an [a930599] alumnus). Paul Meany stated in promotion for the photo book Forever We Remain that Mutemath is officially done and he is working on solo material.

LYRICS

Out of time and out of inclinations, that we're in
How's it feel to watch a man relenting
Let's just say that I might be a sucker
The progress is all in how you cope in spite of no end
You don't have to say it, I know
It's all my fault
You don't have to worry, I know
It's how we are
You don't have to say it, I know
It's all my fault
The give and take is taking its toll

It's an honest work if I can stand up on it, maybe we're
Not as far apart as it appears
Swallowing the blame is second nature, I got to
Keep on dealing my business my way

You don't have to say it, I know
It's all my fault
You don't have to worry, I know
It's how we are
You don't have to say it, I know
It's all my fault
The give and take is taking its toll

I I know (I know)
it's all (it's all)
My (my)
Fault
I
Will take the fall if it takes us somewhere
I I know (I know)
it's all (it's all)
My (my)
Fault
I
Will take the fall if it takes us somewhere

The give and take
The give and take
The give and take is taking its toll
The give and take
The give and take
The give and take is taking its toll

You don't have to say it, I know
It's all my fault
You don't have to worry, I won't
It falls apart
You don't have to say it, I know
It's all my fault
The give and take is taking its toll

You don't have to say it
You don't have to say it
You don't have to say it
You don't have to say it
