Biography

Post-hardcore/alternative rock band from Poughkeepsie, New York, USA formed in 1997. The band started out as a punk band called "Fizzlewink" (1997 - 2001) but after internal changes that were made in the band; namely, hiring Ryan "Judas" DePaolo and Aaron Stern as new members as well as shifting their sound and writing new songs, the band changed their name to "The Getaway" (2001 - 2002), and then completely abandoned what they wrote as "Fizzlewink". They were sued by Canada's "[a=The Getaway]" after they were signed by [a=Brett Gurewitz] from Epitaph Records, which forced yet another band name change, this time they picked "Matchbook Romance" which was a name suggested by Aaron. Matchbook Romance then debuted with their EP "West For Wishing" on April 8th, 2003 and then released "Stories and Alibis" on September 23rd of that same year. They went on hiatus in 2007 after extensive touring that was done to promote their sophomore album "Voices" released on February 14th, 2006, then briefly returned for a reunion tour in March of 2009, two shows in December of 2012, a serie of shows for 2015's Warped Tour and finally three shows in celebration of "Voices" 10th anniversary. Members: Andrew Jordan – lead vocals, rhythm guitar, piano, keyboard (1997–2007, 2009, 2012, 2015–2016) Ryan "Judas" DePaolo – lead guitar, vocals, programming, synthesizer (2001–2007, 2009, 2012, 2015–2016) Ryan Kienle – bass guitar, backing vocals (1997–2007, 2009, 2012, 2015–2016) Aaron Stern – drums, percussion (2001–2007, 2009, 2012, 2015–2016) PJ Manzo – lead guitar (1999–2002) Adam Bock – drums (2000–2001) Jon Dunham – drums (1997–2000) Chris Vicious – touring guitar

LYRICS

It's so simple and complicated.
The way you can crush me.
No matter how much this hurts, this is through.
I get as far as your door before i get caught.
I make up excuses just to touch you and I can't stop, I can't stop.

So are we playing for keeps.
These days begin and they don't end for weeks.
Leave me left out of anything to do with you.
Excuse me while I fall apart.
Don't flatter yourself sweetheart.
Let me take the wheel and I'll crash this car.
Do you have to make this so hard?

You're so good at pretending everything is alright.
You're as welcome as cancer, but my door is always unlocked.

So are we playing for keeps.
These days begin and they don't end for weeks.
Leave me left out of anything to do with you.
Excuse me while I fall apart.
Don't flatter yourself sweetheart.
Let me take the wheel and I'll crash this car.
Do you have to make this so hard?

You're so good
You're so good
You're so good
You're so good

So are we playing for keeps.
These days begin and they don't end for weeks.
Leave me left out of anything to do with you.
Excuse me while I fall apart.
Don't flatter yourself sweetheart.
Let me take the wheel and I'll crash this car.
Do you have to make this so hard?
[x2]

You're so good
You're so good
