Biography
Margaret Lantis (born September 1, 1906 in Dayton, Ohio – died September 8, 2006 in Dayton, Ohio at the age of 100) was an American anthropologist, eskimologist, and writer and was a professor of anthropology at the University of Kentucky (US) from 1965 until her retirement in 1974. In 1987 she was presented with the Malinowski award. She was one of the first anthropologists to work with Alaskan cultures and therefore still is known as a leading authority on the contemporary culture of Alaskan Eskimos.
