American Soul/R&B singer and producer. Founder of [l148072] (1974, with [a358683]) and [l208425]. Born: April 4, 1939 in Winterville, Mississippi, USA Died: September 3, 1994 in Decatur, Georgia, USA. As a child he relocated to Chicago, where he was initially raised on the west side of the city, before he moved near the north. While studying at Wells High School, Lance began boxing. [a=Curtis Mayfield] and [a=Jerry Butler] also went to the same school. His interests soon veered towards music and this new interest led to him forming the group The Floats with [a=Otis Leavill] and Barbara Tyson. Lance also sang with the [a=The Gospel Five], [a= The Harmonaires].
