majiko (まじ娘) is a female Japanese singer and songwriter. She was born on October 28th, 1992 in Tokyo, Japan. Her mother [a=Eri Kojima] was a singer and vocal trainer, which let her grow up in a constant environment of rock, soul, and jazz music. majiko's music could simply be specified as "J-Rock". To be more precise are the songs on all of her albums a blend of several musical genres and styles, like alternative rock and pop music as well as jazz, fusion, and even punk rock - partly within one single song. Her voice is very versatile; she reaches very high notes without losing power and intensity in her singing, at the same time she sings some soulful ballads with a really sensitive, sometimes even fragile voice. All the musicians on her albums are indepentent professionals, which implicates numerous changes in her band's line-up.
