Biography

Christopher Brian Bridges (born September 11, 1977), better known by his stage name Ludacris, is an American rapper and actor. Along with his manager, Chaka Zulu, Ludacris is the co-founder of [l=Disturbing Tha Peace], an imprint distributed by [l=Def Jam Recordings]. Ludacris has sold 17 million albums in the United States and 24 million records sold worldwide, and he has won the Screen Actors Guild, Critic's Choice, MTV, and Grammy Awards during his career. Born in Champaign, Illinois, of African American and Native American descent. Luda wrote his first rap song at age nine when moving to Atlanta and joined an amateur rap group three years later. He attended Banneker High School in Atlanta, Georgia. From 1998 to 1999, and studied music management at Georgia State University. Ludacris worked as a radio editor under the pseudonym "DJ Chris Lova Lova" at Atlanta hip hop station HOT 97.5 FM WHTA, now located at 107.9 FM, when producer and rapper [a=Timbaland] made an offer for Ludacris to work with him at the radio station, leading to his performance on the track "Phat Rabbit" on Timbaland's 1998 album Tim's Bio: Life from da Bassment. Ludacris released his major label debut, "Back for the First Time", in October 2000. This album was actually a modified re-release of the album "Incognegro", made in 1998. It was produced with the help of the underground producer Sessy Melia, whom he dated for a short while. The album reached as high as #4 on the U.S. Billboard 200, and was a major success. Ludacris made his mark on the industry with singles such as "Southern Hospitality" and "What's Your Fantasy", along with his first ever single the "Phat Rabbit", from two years prior. Guest appearances included [a=4-Ize], [a=I-20], [a=Shawnna], [a=Pastor Troy], [a=Timbaland], [a=Trina], [a=Foxy Brown], [a=UGK], and others. Ludacris stated in an interview on MTV's hip hop program Direct Effect that he came up with his stage name based on his "split personality" that he considered "ridiculous" and "ludicrous".

LYRICS

Everybody wants the fortune & fame
The more the things change, the more they stay the same!
This industry's like a crap game
Sometimes you got to charge it to the rap game
Sometimes you got to charge it to the rap game
Sometimes you got to charge it to the rap game!
This industry's like a crap game
Sometimes you got to charge it to the rap game!

Where do I begin?
When this industry set, not everybody is your friend
Had to learn that shit the hard way
In and out the boggie's contracts since before I was rappin' in the hallway
Everyone out for money, executives out for blood
If you won't keep the music permanent, then the labels will pull the plug
Get it? Hard to admit when shit don't go the way you plan
While everybody's on Instagram just to fighting like it is ???
Take it back to one of my first tools
Fucking everything, moving, thinking groovies will never do nothing back to us
Kick them out the hotel, swearing I'm hitting my final thing
Lost a bunch of jewelry, from a Rolex to a diamond chain
Bitch, how in the hell did I get cost slipping me while on my record niggas
Talking 'bout them pimping?
Maybe they've exaggerated a little bit!
You know, fake till you make it
One of us rapper got to talk a little shit!
Yeah, I've been smashing some videos vixens, and some mattresses
But brand name pussy don't feel no different on my mattresses
Insecure hoes with breast jobs and butt shots blaming on us rich niggas
All for shits, but what not
Got against these groopies ?? till you break up
and your bitch wonder where her percentage is ?
While these elegant hoes are tryina play the trap game
And now's the time I blame it on the rap game!

Everybody wants the fortune & fame
The more the things change, the more they stay the same!
This industry's like a crap game
Sometimes you got to charge it to the rap game
Sometimes you got to charge it to the rap game
Sometimes you got to charge it to the rap game!
This industry's like a crap game
Sometimes you got to charge it to the rap game!

Listen, this ain't script, this is reality
It takes some drugs for us to conquer this insanity
Themes using our names, promoting these fake appearances
Publishers overcharging, taking years for these clearances
I got sued, some rappers said I stole their joint, nigga
Spending half a million just to prove a fucking point, nigga
We got the fans thinking rappers never lose,
Gave a producer a hundred grand for a beat I never used!
Damn, them false stories and being miss-coded in magazines
Got a nigga wanting to go and load a couple of magazines
Into your offices and shoot at the fucking staff
Post that on your website, and burn that while I fucking laugh
You protesters at my concerts, y'all make me sick
I thought I told you I would never disrespect a bitch
It's clear to see that hip-hop it's under attack, man
Only because no one wants to a see a rich black man
Really, they want us with no money
Hangover, and missing cuts, and cutting our show money
Hip-hop cops still lurking, tryina to catch us slipping
And put us in the position of making some real life decisions
Do we just be doing dumb shit?
Empty on our gun clips, always on the run shit
Lights out over us entertainment hood niggas
If it's bad to be a rapper, what else is good niggas?!

Everybody wants the fortune & fame
The more the things change, the more they stay the same!
This industry's like a crap game
Sometimes you got to charge it to the rap game
Sometimes you got to charge it to the rap game
Sometimes you got to charge it to the rap game!
This industry's like a crap game,
Sometimes you got to charge it to the rap game!
