Italian singer-songwriter, musician and actor, born on March 4th, 1943 in Bologna, Italy, died March 1st, 2012 in Montreux, Switzerland. He began his music career in the 1960s as a member of various bands and as a solo artist. Dalla gained widespread recognition in the 1970s with the release of his album "Storie Di Casa Mia" which included the hit single "4 Marzo 1943" a tribute to the victims of a World War II bombing in his hometown. Throughout his career, Dalla collaborated with many other Italian musicians and artists, including [a=Francesco De Gregori] and [a=Gianni Morandi]. He also wrote music for films, such as "To Forget Venice" and "The Night of the Shooting Stars". His music was known for its versatility and experimentation, incorporating elements of jazz, rock, and pop. He was also known for his distinctive voice and emotive performances. Some of his most famous songs include "Caruso", "Anna e Marco" and "Futura." He continued to perform and record music until his death.
