Biography

Sex-obsessed Belgian-American post-industrial/techno band founded in Antwerp in 1988 as Major Problem with frontperson [a=Nathalie Delaet]. One of [a=Maurice Engelen] (Praga Khan)'s many New Beat/Hard Beat projects, originally with [a=Jos Borremans] (Chris Inger) and [a=K. Hendrickx] (Harry Van Oekel). [a=Nikkie Van Lierop] (Jade 4U) became part of the group with the first proper Lords of Acid single "[Link]." Natalie Delaet walked out of the band, so Nikkie took over vocal duties for the early singles and the "[Link]," album. In 1991, [a=Oliver Adams] replaced Inger and Van Oekel and Lords of Acid became the main [a=M.N.O.] project (along with [a=Channel X] and [a=Digital Orgasm]), along with [a=Ludo Camberlin] (Carl S. Johansen), and has outlived all others to become a semi-permanent on-going fixture. [a=Ruth McArdle] (Lady Galore) became the lead singer for 1994's "[Link]", she left the band in 1995 during the "The Sextacy Ball," shows with [a=My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult], to join the [a=The Bomb Gang Girlz]. Nikkie took over as lead singer again and was the female vocalist on "[Link]," and the 1997 tour. [a=Deborah Ostrega] then took over vocal duties for the "[Link] Tour," in 2000 (released on CD as "[Link],") and the subsequent "[Link]," album, the first without Nikkie. The band went into hiatus after the 2001/02 Tour, that followed the release of the album, with Maurice and Oliver concentrating on Praga Khan's solo output. In 2010, Maurice Engelen revived Lords Of Acid for the US "Sextreme Ball," tour with a new lineup: [a=Lacey Conner], [a=Sin Quirin], [a=Murv Douglas] and [a=Kirk Salvador], taking over the production duties on his own. [a=Mea Fisher] became the new lead singer in 2011. They released "[Link]," in 2012, and the band was put back on ice until a tour in 2017. Mea left the band at the end of the year. [a=Marieke Bresseleers] was announced as the new frontwoman in January 2018 and "[Link]," was released in May the same year. Gigi Ricci took over as lead vocalist in 2022 and Olivier Adams rejoined the band for the “Make Acid Great Again” tour in 2024. Lords Of Acid has featured various additional writers and musicians throughout the years, including [a=Rembert de Smet], [a=Ferre Baelen], [a=Luc Van Acker] and [a=Wim Daans] among the contributors.
