Biography

Danish singer, guitarist and songwriter born on May 28, 1955 in Brabrand, Denmark. A major female vocalist in various settings in Danish pop and rock since the middle of the 1970s. Started her singing career as teenager in the all-girl band [a=De Fem] (appearing on record in 1970 as [a=It's So Easy]) before joining all-female rock band [a=Shit & Chanel] in 1972 with a.o. [a=Anne Linnet]. Sørensen soon established a career as one of Denmark's most popular backing vocalists, backing a.o. [a=Gasolin'], [a=Gnags] and especially [a=Sebastian (5)]. In January 1977, her mother died, which left some emotions to be resolved that affected songs, such as "Stille Før Storm" from [Link]. After Shit & Chanel dissolved in 1979, she became part of [a=Anne Linnet Band] with Linnet and [a=Sanne Salomonsen]. In 1983, she released her first solo album [Link], followed by a number of albums in her own name over the years. Sings on the charity single [Link] from 1985. Her solo album [Link] from 1989 is a commercial high point that has sold 350,000 copies in Scandinavia. In 2001, she was part of the country band [a=Cowgirls] with [a=Sanne Salomonsen] and [a=Tamra Rosanes]. Linnet's husband [a=Holger Laumann] was Lis Sørensen's music teacher in primary school at Engdalskolen in Brabrand. Went to high school at [l=Århus Statsgymnasium], and graduated as music pedagogue from [l=Det Jyske Musikkonservatorium]. Married to [a=Jan Sivertsen] from 1999 to 2017, with whom she has the son [a=Sylvester Sivertsen].
