Biography

Norwegian progressive/avant-garde metal band from founded in 2001 in Notodden, Norway by singer and keyboardist [a=Einar Solberg] and guitarist [a=Tor Oddmund Suhrke]. After releasing two demos with relatively unstable lineups, the band released their first studio album, Tall Poppy Syndrome, in 2009, which mixed progressive metal and progressive rock styles, but encompasses a wide array of influences and sounds. They subsequently gained prominence as the live backing band of [a=Ihsahn] (who is Solberg's brother-in-law), who, in turn, contributed on several Leprous records as guest singer or producer. In 2011 Leprous released Bilateral, followed two years later with Coal, which defines a new experimental direction for the band, developed with The Congregation (2015). In 2017 Leprous took a more rock-oriented and less metal approach with Malina (2017), their first record not to feature harsh vocals. Two years later they released Pitfalls, more electronic/symphonic-oriented.

LYRICS

Quick, hold your last breath
Before you turn to stone
Forget the struggle
Take it in while the pressure [?]
Woke after storms passed
No salvation to be found
Holding me back, no more
No salvation to be found
Holding me back, no more
No salvation to be found
Holding me back, no more

Rise, the withered flower
I didn't say that[?]
I'm watching from afar
Witness the despair
Grasping at your [?]

No salvation to be found
Holding me back, no more
No salvation to be found
Holding me back, no more

No salvation
Beyond my reach
