Biography

Norwegian progressive/avant-garde metal band from founded in 2001 in Notodden, Norway by singer and keyboardist [a=Einar Solberg] and guitarist [a=Tor Oddmund Suhrke]. After releasing two demos with relatively unstable lineups, the band released their first studio album, Tall Poppy Syndrome, in 2009, which mixed progressive metal and progressive rock styles, but encompasses a wide array of influences and sounds. They subsequently gained prominence as the live backing band of [a=Ihsahn] (who is Solberg's brother-in-law), who, in turn, contributed on several Leprous records as guest singer or producer. In 2011 Leprous released Bilateral, followed two years later with Coal, which defines a new experimental direction for the band, developed with The Congregation (2015). In 2017 Leprous took a more rock-oriented and less metal approach with Malina (2017), their first record not to feature harsh vocals. Two years later they released Pitfalls, more electronic/symphonic-oriented.

LYRICS

Music by Øystein Landsverk, Tor Oddmund Suhrke and Einar Solberg
Lyrics by Tor Oddmund Suhrke
Rarely seen
As result of confidence
Gains derived from destruction
Two easy ways out will collide

Pick your fight
Stand you ground
Common way
Though unsound

[Chorus]
Withered words
Say no more
Tend your wounds
End this war

Hostile tradition
Hard to convert
Primitive instinct to fight
Vindictive reason
Enmity profound
Fundamental spite

How many souls is success meant to pay?
Who will be left to take part?
Where can defeat be the final accord?
What will it do to your heart?

Withered words
Say no more
Tend your wounds
End this war
