Biography

American singer, songwriter, producer, artist and poet, born 21 June 1985 in New York City, New York, USA. Raised in Lake Placid, a small village in New York. In 2000, when she was fifteen, she was sent to Kent School in Connecticut to deal with her alcohol abuse. After graduating from high school in 2003, she spent a year living on Long Island. Being taught how to play guitar by her uncle, she began playing at nightclubs under various names such as "Sparkle Jump Rope Queen" and "Lizzy Grant and the Phenomena" with no real ambition to pursue music as a career. In the fall of 2004, she enrolled at Fordham University in New York where she studied metaphysics. Her time there was when her musical experience began. Between 2005 and 2009, she had several music projects including her works as May Jailer and [a=Lizzy Grant]. She finally released her first album, "A.K.A. Lizzy Grant" (2010), under the stage name Lana Del Ray – later changed to Lana Del Rey, with an 'e'. Over the years, over 200 of her songs – mostly demos and songs from the May Jailer/Lizzy Grant/Born To Die eras – have been leaked through a variety of media.

LYRICS

Elvis is my daddy, Marilyn's my mother,
Jesus is my bestest friend.
We don't need nobody, 'cause we got each other,
Or at least I pretend.
We get down every Friday night,
Dancin' and grindin' in the pale moonlight.
Gand Ole Opry
we're feelin' alright,
Mary prays the rosary for my broken mind.

I sing the body electric,
I sing the body electric, baby.
I sing the body electric,
I sing the body electric,
Sing the body electric.
I'm on fire, baby, I'm on fire.

Whitman is my daddy, Monaco's my mother,
Diamonds are my bestest friend.
Heaven is my baby, suicide's her father,
Opulence is the end.

We get down every Friday night,
Dancin' and grindin' in the pale moonlight.
Gand Ole Opry , we're feelin' alright,
Mary prays the rosary for my broken mind.

I sing the body electric,
I sing the body electric, baby.
I sing the body electric,
I sing the body electric,
Sing the body electric.
I'm on fire, baby, I'm on fire.

My clothes still smell like you,
And all the photographs say, that you're still young.
I pretend I'm not hurt and go about the world like I'm having fun.
We get crazy every Friday night,
Drop it like it's hot in the pale moonlight.
Grand Ole Opry, feelin' alright,
Mary swayin' softly, to her hearts delight.

I sing the body electric,
I sing the body electric, baby.
I sing the body electric,
Sing the body electric,
Sing the body electric.
I'm on fire, sugar, I'm on fire.
I sing the body electric, baby.
I sing the body electric, baby.
I sing the body electric, baby.
