Joseph "Joe" Hahn (born March 15, 1977, in Dallas, Texas) – also known by his stage name [i]Mr. Hahn,[/i] is an American turntablist and director, best known as the DJ and sampler for the American rock band [a=Linkin Park]. Hahn is a second-generation Korean American. Hahn began deejaying in high school, and later studied illustration at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. In college, he met [a=Mike Shinoda], and joined his band [i]Xero,[/i] which eventually became [a=Linkin Park]. Hahn is sometimes credited by the nickname "Chairman Hahn," a name used on their remix album [i]Reanimation.[/i] Hahn has directed several of Linkin Park's music videos, including "Numb," "From the Inside," "What I've Done," "Somewhere I Belong," "Pts.OF.Athrty," "New Divide," "Bleed it Out," and "Iridescent." He has also directed videos for [a=Story of the Year], [a=Xzibit], and [a=Alkaline Trio]. Outside of music, Hahn worked on special effects for [i]The X-Files[/i] and the miniseries [i]Frank Herbert’s Dune.[/i] He also directed the trailer for the video game [i]Medal of Honor,[/i] featuring Linkin Park's single "The Catalyst." Hahn became the first Korean American to receive a Grammy when the band won the 2002 award for Best Hard Rock Performance.
