Biography

American Vocalist, Songwriter R&B, P-Funk Born in Cleveland, OH, Jeanette first appeared as a background singer on recordings by [a=James Brown] in 1975. That year she joined [a=Parliament] with [a=Debbie Wright], becoming the first female members of the group. Recorded with [a=Parliament] (1975–1980) and [a=Funkadelic] (1978–1980), both featuring [a=George Clinton], and with the [a=Sweat Band] featuring [a=Bootsy Collins] and [a=Maceo Parker] (1980). In 1978 George Clinton formed what he considered to be the female version of Parliament, [a=Parlet], with Jeanette, [a=Debbie Wright] and [a=Mallia Franklin]. Because of a few personnel changes in the group, ([a=Shirley Hayden] and Mallia replaced Debbie, [a=Janice Evans] replaced Mallia) Jeannette was the only original member to record all three of the group's albums: [m19681], [m19688] and [m19694] for Casablanca before leaving in 1980. In 2000, she appeared on [a=Dawn Silva]'s solo release, [m19760]. **Not to be confused with Jeanette [a=Baby Washington].
