English composer (born September 21 in Cheltenham, 1874; died May 25, 1934 in London). He is most famous for his orchestral suite The Planets. His music was influenced by Indian spiritualism and English folk tunes, and is well known for unconventional use of meter and haunting melodies. Father of [A=Imogen Holst].
