Biography
(1881 - 1865) Early American cylinder and disc recording artist for the Edison Phonograph Company. Recorded as "Gus Reed" from 1908-1913. Deep basso voice, recorded as a soloist and as bass in The [a=Knickerbocker Quartet] from 1909-1912 along with John Young, George Stricklett and Frederick Wheeler. Performed in vaudeville and theatre. A member of the Lew Dockstader Minstrels and other vaudeville and theatre troupes. Sang bass in the Big City Quartet along with Fred G. Rover, Geoffrey O’Hara and Jack Hamilton. Bit player in early talkies 1930-1935.
