Biography

Jamaican singer, actress and supermodel born on May 19, 1948 [some sources claim 1950 or 1952] in Spanish Town, Jamaica, West Indies. She moved to Syracuse, New York, in her early teens, where her parents had relocated and founded the Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ. She moved to New York at 18 and began a modelling career that took her to Paris where she worked for [a1112433], [a1938466] and [a3909690] and photographers such as [a1493522] and [a2887188]. While in Paris, she branched out into a recording career, first as a disco diva, working with [a=Tom Moulton], before evolving towards a reggae / new wave sound created at [l264020] with [a5064] and marked by striking visuals created by her then partner [a250086]. Her first connection with music perhaps is her uncredited appearance on the cover of the 1973 reissue of [r3536194]. She published her autobiography in 2015, I'll Never Write My Memoirs (a line taken from her song Art Groupie), co-written with [a231640], in which she comes back on her early childhood in Jamaica, denies some longstanding rumours and fuels a few new ones. Grace is the granddaughter of [a3960002], daughter of [a1272793], sister of [a3849585] and [a1291649], and mother of [a1275577].

LYRICS

Colour and warmth came into your world, It makes me crazy, When you don't get what you want, You scream and you shout, You're still a baby. Don't give me a line, Keep the lid on the bottle this time, I'm still a lady, I won't do it tonight, I won't do it tonight, No way baby, I won't give in and I won't feel guilty. Rant and rave to manipulate me, From the nipple to the bottle, Never satisfied, From the nipple to the bottle, Now the cow must die. Power and wealth surrendering myself, It ain't easy, Embarassing my store by opening up my door, When it's breezy. You showed me your force, Exaggerated stamina and energy, No place for that, No place for that, It's not that easy. Rant and rave to manipulate me, From the nipple to the bottle, Never satisfied, From the nipple to the bottle, Now the cow must die. You ain't gon get it, I ain't gon give it, You ain't gon get it, I ain't gon give it. Colour and warmth came into your world, It makes me crazy, When you don't get what you want, You scream and you shout, You're still a lady. Don't give me a line, Keep the lid on the bottle this time, I'm still a lady, I won't do it tonight, I won't do it tonight, No where baby, I won't give in and I won't feel guilty. Rant and rave to manipulate me, From the nipple to the bottle, Never satisfied From the nipple to the bottle, Now the cow must die. I ain't gon give it, you ain't gon get it, If I don't give it, how you gonna get it? I ain't gon give it, you ain't gon get it, If I don't give it, how you gonna get it? (fade)
