Biography

Dennis Coles (born May 9, 1970), better known by his stage name Ghostface Killah, is an American rapper and member of the Wu-Tang Clan. After the group achieved breakthrough success in the aftermath of Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers), the members went on to pursue solo careers to varying levels of success. Ghostface Killah debuted his solo-career with Ironman in 1996, which was well received by music critics. He has continued his success over the following years with critically acclaimed albums such as Supreme Clientele (2000) and Fishscale (2006). His stage name was taken from one of the characters in the 1979 kung fu film Mystery of Chessboxing. He is the founder of his own label Starks Enterprises. Ghostface Killah is critically acclaimed for his loud, fast-paced flow, and his emotional stream-of-consciousness narratives containing cryptic slang and non-sequiturs. In 2006, MTV included him on their honorable mention list of The Greatest MCs of All Time, while the editors of About.com placed him on their list of the Top 50 MCs of Our Time (1987–2007), calling him "one of the most imaginative storytellers of our time."] Q magazine called him "rap's finest storyteller." Pitchfork Media stated that, "Ghostface has unparalleled storytelling instincts; he might be the best, most colorful storyteller rap has ever seen."NPR called him "a compulsive storyteller", and asserted, "His fiction is painterly." Founder of [l=Starks Enterprises]. Father of [a=Dennis Ames] ([a=Sun God (3)])

LYRICS

Yeah, we gon' keep this going
Uh
DJ Ty Boogie
Yeah
New Ghostface (Okay)
Here we go
New Nas
Yeah, yo, uh (Come on)

We used to run up in jewelry stores, lay up in malls
Kick shoppin', lookin' for them fruit-flavored velours
Switch rose, surround-sound gun, that was made by Bose (Uh-huh)
Got knocked, a cop made an angel all in the blow
With cases pendin', we co-defendants
Lawyer dealt with a big bag (Yeah)
He had the judge lighten our sentence
I'm feelin' like Gotti in '93
Low-key OT (OT)
Cashin' in on them birds, gettin' that poultry
Niggas crept up on me slow, blastin' that Jodeci (Jodeci)
My main man turned his head like he ain't notice me (Woo)
So I started starin' at niggas and stepped back
My man had that nervous face, that's real rap (Ah-ha)
They hopped out with crazy gold, bigfoot furs
All white, smellin' like strong kush, they whispered words
They told me this story and how this nigga ran in they gate
Left me for dead in the enemy's face, fuck you nigga

You've abandoned me
Love don't live here anymore
Just a vacancy
Love don't live here anymore

Life grows on me, every other day, I have a "woah" moment
"How'd the hell I end up here?" day, "Look how I've grown" moment
People are four, how dark can it get?
No rhyme or reason why you eventually get picked
Hangout spots, bangin' out with your opps
Stand on my soapbox, emotions evoked
They'll get what's comin', ain't gotta do no aimin'
Tell my story after I'm dead, y'all self-incriminatin'
This to my nation, Black-on-Black hatred still happens adjacent
Project 2025 mandated by Reagan
House niggas on the rise, they love a plantation
Can't allow the selfish and foul in our conversation
Things I think about, this Hen' and my pen
It's spillin' out, turquoise water, swimmin' and cop
Hotels that really pop, I put twenty men in position
When ten get rich, the ten who do not, guess what they professin'

You've abandoned me (Fuck y'all niggas)
Love don't live here anymore
Ghost, what up? You know what it is
Just a vacancy (Yeah)
Love don't live here anymore

Ghostdini, that one-of-one rap king
On his thrown
I see you, king
