Biography
American talent agent, author and co-founder of [l33261]. Born October 24, 1889 Cambridge, New York, USA. Died October 15, 1963 (aged 73) Little Neck, New York, USA. Uncle of record producer [a277477]. He was the head of A & R for Columbia Records and RCA Victor Records and he co-founder of MGM Records. Some of his talent discoveries included country music singer Hank Williams, blues singer Bessie Smith and banjoist Samantha Bumgarner. Walker joined Columbia Records in 1919. He was with RCA Victor from 1933 to 1945, and in 1945 he joined MGM Records and headed MGM as president for many years.
