Biography
American early country blues and Piedmont blues musician and songwriter. Hutchison was best known as a slide guitar player, where he held the guitar in his lap. Born: March 20, 1897 in Logan County, West Virginia, United States Died: November 9, 1945 in Dayton, Ohio, United States Known as "the Pride of West Virginia," was one of the Mountain State's first recording artists, making 41 recordings (some remained unissued) between 1926 and 1929. His songs, all on the OKeh label, displayed a strong African-American blues influence as did his guitar style. Inducted into the West Virginia Music Hall of Fame (2018). [a=Doc Watson] often covered Hutchison"s “The Train That Carried My Girl From Town” in concert and his playing is believed to have influenced [a=Leo Kottke] and [a=Bob Dylan].
