Biography

[b]Frank Farian[/b], born [b]Reuther[/b] (18 July 1941, Kirn, Germany — 23 January 2024, Miami, Florida) was a German songwriter, composer, producer, and vocalist. Founder of [l=Far Music Production GmbH] and [l=IMP], owner of [l=FAR Musikverlag] and [l267423]. He was most renowned for creating a disco-pop ensemble [b][a=Boney M.][/b], pop band [b][a=No Mercy][/b], and controversial duo [b][a=Milli Vanilli][/b]. Farian pioneered a now-commonplace practice of pop idols lip-syncing to pre-recorded ghost singers; after Milli Vanilli's infamous fallout, he launched several Eurodance projects in similar fashion, such as [a=La Bouche] and [a=Le Click]. Frank also managed [url=/artist/139260]Eruption[/url] in 1977, and the band's lead singer, [a=Precious Wilson]. In 1985, he established a producer's "supergroup" [b][a=Far Corporation][/b], briefly known as [a=Frank Farian Corporation], which had a curious distinction as the first pop act that charted with a cover of [a=Led Zeppelin]'s [i][Link][/i], peaking at №8 in the UK Singles Chart.
