Biography

Far Apart was a four-piece indie-emo band from Luleå, Sweden. The band was formed in June of 1995, and was active until the end of 1999. Their name was taken from a song by [a=The Cure]. After releasing two demo tapes, Far Apart's first 7", "Hazel", was released in November 1997 on the Swedish indie label Carcrash. It was later released in the USA in May 1998, under license to the American indie label Crank! Records. After the release of "Hazel" in the USA major label offers started rolling in, but the band's rebellious and anti-corporate frame of mind killed every possibility of a major-label release of any of their material. They remained unsigned throughout the band's existence; representing the band's punk rock attitude to their very core. The essence of a truly independent outlook on life, love, and music is very much alive in the hearts of the members of Far Apart. After two self-promoted tours in Sweden, Germany and the Czech Republic together with their friends [a=The John Doe Band], a split 7" between the two bands was released on Premonition Records in Sweden and The Smith & Nephew Company in Germany. They were supposed to release a CD titled "The Blood Meridian Record" after the tour, but for some reason they split up and it was never released.
