Biography

Tubb, born February 9, 1914 in Crisp, Texas and died September 6, 1984 in Nashville, Tennessee, nicknamed the Texas Troubadour, was an American singer and songwriter and one of the pioneers of country music. His biggest career hit song Walking the Floor Over You (1941) marked the rise of the honky-tonk style of music. In 1948-49, he was the first singer to record a hit version of Blue Christmas, a song more commonly associated with [a=Elvis Presley] and his mid-1950s version. Another well-known Tubb hit is Waltz Across Texas (1965), which became one of his most requested songs and is often used in dance halls throughout Texas during waltz lessons. In the early 1960s, he recorded duets with up-and-coming [a=Loretta Lynn], including their hit Sweet Thang.

LYRICS

Paroles de la chanson Waltz Across Texas par Ernest Tubb
When we dance together my world's in disguise it's a fairyland tale that come true
And when you look at me with those stars in your eyes
I could waltz across Texas with you
Waltz across Texas with you in my arms waltz across Texas with you
Like a storybook ending I'm lost in your charms
And I could waltz across Texas with you
My heartaches and troubles are just up and gone the moment that you come in view
And with your hand in mine dear I could dance on and on
And I could waltz across Texas with you
Waltz across Texas...
