Biography

Swedish/French indie pop rock band founded in 2002 as " The Nicotines ". The band was composed of 4 Swedish boys & 1 French girl. Through the connection of France and Sweden, Envelopes comprises Henrik (vocals/guitar), Audrey (guitar/vocals), Martin (bass), Filip (drums), and Fredrik (guitar). Henrik, Fredrik, and Martin became acquainted during their high school years, while Audrey (who was on the Erasmus student exchange program) met Henrik in college; Filip was introduced to the group at a local performance in Sweden. Each member shared a passion for the Pixies, Kate Bush, Talking Heads, Bob Hund, and Os Mutantes. The indie rock band was formed in 2002 during breaks between semesters and holidays. Their inaugural performance, under the name " The Nicotines ", took place in Paris in October 2002. After two years and a change of name, the band, now renamed " Envelopes " launched their debut EP, I Don't Like It, on Rex in the U.K. The band's distinctive pop sound was showcased in their second album, Demon. The title Demon, which translates to "demos" in Swedish, was released in the U.K. through Brille Records in 2006. Their music was often qualified as "pop-punk" because of cutting riffs & a very energetic rhythm section. They were also compared to bands like Talking Heads, Pixies, Pavement, Belle et Sebastien & Papas Fritas. Members: Henrik Orrling - vocals, guitar, keyboards Audrey Pic - vocals, guitar Fredrik Berglind-Dehlin - guitar Martin Karlsson - bass Filip Ekander - drums
