American Academy Award-winning composer and conductor. Born April 4, 1922 in New York City, New York, USA Died August 18, 2004 in Ojai, California, USA. In a career that spanned over five decades, he composed over 150 original film scores and scores for nearly 80 television productions. His Hollywood works include [i]The Ten Commandments[/i] (1956), [i]The Magnificent Seven[/i] (1960), [i]The Great Escape[/i] (1963), [i]Thoroughly Modern Millie[/i] (1967, Academy Award), [i]Animal House[/i] (1978), [i]The Blues Brothers[/i] (1980), [i]Trading Places[/i] (1984) and [i]Ghostbusters[/i] (1984). Father of [a=Peter Bernstein (3)] (with his 2nd wife) and [a=Emilie A. Bernstein] (with his 3rd wife). Unrelated to [a299702], though they were friends.
