African-American preacher and singer, who first recorded in 1933. The late Elder Lightfoot Solomon Michaux was a prophet, overseer, preacher, teacher, and radio evangelist. Elder Michaux was born in Newport News, Virginia on November 7, 1883. It was in Newport News where he met and married Miss Mary Pauline. In 1919, God called Elder Michaux into the ministry, which he entered with great enthusiasm and dedication. He conducted his first service under a tent in Newport News and God gave him 150 souls (editor's note: this refers to the size of his audience). From the Elder's ministry, seven churches and several branches have been established. Elder Michaux and his choir was a regular over the radio. He was heard by half of the people who lived on the globe. His preaching attracted crowds to over-flowing. Elder Michaux had become friends with the late President and Mrs. Franklin D. Roosevelt. In 1940 he attended the Democratic National Convention in Chicago to nominate Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt as Vice President. Prophecies were a specialty to Elder Michaux. He comforted many during the dark days of World War I. He predicted the time of Hitler's fall. He predicted that Truman would be elected President in 1948 when all the polls stated otherwise. He told General and Mrs. Dwight Eisenhower that someday they would be in the White House. Many years later he visited them regularly. The Elder was blessed with unusual wisdom, expansive personality, and great charm which gave him a magnetic hold over multitudes. He had courage in great abundance. The Lord is not correcting your body when He chastises you. He is correcting your spirit. Everybody who has a clean body hasn't a clean spirit.
