Biography
Puerto Rican salsa singer (born 18 Aug. 1955), one of the main singers of "Salsa romántica" ("romantic salsa"), Santiago's career took off in 1984 in Puerto Rico and Latin America as a soloist, forming his own band, and recording songs including: "Tú Me Quemas", "Qué Locura Enamorarme de Ti", "Me Fallaste", "Antidoto y Veneno", "Tu Me Haces Falta", his best known hit "Lluvia", and many others. His fame eventually spread to Europe and the United States, making him one of the most popular Salsa singer in the late 80's and early 90's. He has recorded for labels like Rodven, TH, EMI Latin, PolyGram, Universal and Sony Music. In 1999 he released Celebration: Epic Duets. He was joined on compilation album by other stars in the Latin music scene like [a1111608], [a340419] and [a119538]. The album was named one of the best recordings of 1999 by the National Foundation for Popular Culture. Santiago has earned both gold and platinum records, along with other awards
