Biography
Born in Mount Airy, North Carolina in 1945, Donna Fargo moved to California in the 1960s, where she met and married producer [url=http://www.discogs.com/artist/Stan+Silver]Stan Silver[/url]. She released several singles on regional labels in the 1960s and then pursued a career as a high school English teacher. In 1971, she recorded a demo in Nashville on a school break; the session led to the release of "The Happiest Girl In The Whole U.S.A." and "Funny Face"; both singles reached #1 on the country charts and the Top 10 on the pop charts. Her popularity lasted throughout the 1970s and she released several albums and hosted a television variety series. She was diagnosed with MS in 1978 but continues to perform and record.
