Biography

Ísar Logi Arnarsson, better known as Cold garnered widespread attention in the mid nineties with his track ‘Strobelight Network’ on Thule Records, championed by Sven Väth as his closing record at Love Parade in Berlin 1995. Active again in 2017. It’s nearing the end of Love Parade in Berlin 1995. Sven Väth has been doing one of his legendary marathon sets as the sun starts to rise above the city. It’s final track of the festival. It starts with a repetitive crystal-like ambient sounds and slowly the songs become fuller and more grandeur. It’s the sounds of a city waking up – and also signaling the end of a beautiful event. That track is Strobelight Network by a young enthusiastic Icelandic producer Cold (Ísar Logi Arnarson). It was the debut release of Thule Records, the very first Icelandic techno label. The release instantly became a cult hit – with numerous re-releases through the years on Elektrolux and ReLoad - and even boasting a fantastic remix by the Sven Väth himself. Cold, however, disappeared from the international music scene. He became the main editor for a leading music magazine in his native land and organizer of numerous successful club nights in Reykjavik. Though focused on other projects, his ambitions for music was never far away. While regularly performing in clubs in downtown Reykjavík, he developed his unique style of minimalistic techno. 18 years later, he resurfaces with bundle of new material to his former home – Thule Records. The result is Exiles EP, which will be released on AE Recordings, a sublabel of the Thule Records which focuses on the more abstract world of techno. The signature sounds of Cold are playful tribal grooves, ruff basslines and atmospheric sounds. He tries hard not to be limited to any specific formulas and manages in that way to successfully create his own distinctive sound. Constantly evolving his production skills and questioning the things around him.

LYRICS

Before I let you go
Give me just one more night to show you
Just how I feel
I lost all my control
If it takes my whole damn life
I'll make this up to you

I'm kinda like the waves that roll their whole life
Towards somewhere, crashing in on the shore
It's blown in by the wind that carries the clouds
To hide my wish on a fallen star

A different kind of pain, is someone there to hold you
Is someone there to take you away from me
A different kind of pain, is someone there to hold you
Is someone there to take you away from me

I tried to let you go
I wish I could turn back time and show you
Just how I feel
I needed you to know
If it takes my whole damned life
I'll make this up to you

I'm kinda like the waves that roll their whole life
Towards somewhere, crashing in on the shore
It's blown in by the wind that carries the clouds
To hide my wish on a fallen star

A different kind of pain, is someone there to hold you
Is someone there to take you away from me
A different kind of pain, is someone there to hold you
Is someone there to take you away from me

Before you let me go away
Before you let me go away
Before you let me go away
Before you let me go, I need you to know

A different kind of pain, is someone there to hold you
Is someone there to take you away from me
A different kind of pain, is someone there to hold you
Is someone there to take you away from me

A different kind of pain
(It's a different kind of pain)
A different kind of pain
(It's a different kind of pain)
It's a different kind of pain

It's a different kind of pain
(It's a different kind of pain)
Before you let me go
(It's a different kind of pain)
I needed you to know
It's a different kind of pain
It's a different kind of...
