Biography

Since the arrival of their 2016 breakthrough single “Talk Too Much,” COIN have continually turned out sublimely catchy alt-pop, equally built on effervescent hooks and an understated complexity. With that dynamic earning them a passionate following, the Nashville-based trio have spent much of the past few years bringing their sing-along-heavy live set to frenzied crowds all across the globe. COIN embraces their pop instincts more fully than ever in their third studio album titled Dreamland, scheduled for release February 21st 2020, featuring their most sonically adventurous yet emotionally direct batch of songs to date. As part of their nonstop touring schedule in recent years, COIN have taken their unforgettable and intensely communal live performance to major festivals like Lollapalooza and Firefly, in addition to touring with such acts as Walk The Moon, The 1975, Young the Giant, and Passion Pit. In every show, COIN aim to remove the barrier between band and audience, ultimately creating a nearly familial connection with the crowd. As they gear up for the release of their third album, COIN hope to deepen that closeness, a mission that traces back to their increasingly self-reliant and uncompromising approach to their artistry. On January 28, 2025, lead singer Chase Lawrence released a statement on Instagram that COIN has disbanded.

LYRICS

I think there's something I'm runnin' from
Or is it just a lie?
I leave you there in a parking lot
Do it again and again
I told you I would come back for you
And bring you strawberry jam
You said you fell in love with a pretty mouth that'll chew you up
It'll spit you out

She likes me better when I'm taking my time
Fire burning at both ends
Still want another perfect goodbye
She likes me better, oh, she likes me better with my
Head down, lately
Mindless talking in the backseat
It's so good, playing '80s
God only knows what you see in me
(Just what you see in me)

I lost my head in a burning room
I found your keys in my car
We fell in love in a parachute
That I set off like a rolling stone
And I apologize to you, and I apologize for that
And I'm calling in the Air Force, and you waving like a flag
And I turn around and right when I'm walkin' away
She said you're right to my face

She likes me better when I'm taking my time
Fire burning at both ends
Still want another perfect goodbye
She likes me better, oh, she likes me better with my
Head down, lately
Mindless talking in the backseat
It's so good, playing '80s
God only knows what you see in me
(Just what you see in me)

And I apologize to you, and I apologize for that
And I'm sleeping at the airport, and you're slipping out the back
And I turn around and right when I'm walkin' away
She said it, she said it, she said, she said
Why you leaving me?
Why you leaving me?
