Biography

bôa (official capitalisation) is an English alternative/ indie band formed in London in 1993 by drummer Ed Herten, keyboard player Paul Turrell, and guitarist/vocalist Steve Rodgers. The band progressed from a funk band to a rock band over the years, as bassist Alex Caird and multi-instrumentalist Ben Henderson joined the group, Steve's sister Jasmine was added as vocalist and Lee Sullivan took over on drums. Their track "Duvet" was the opening theme song to the anime television series Serial Experiments Lain. The band was originally signed by Polystar in Japan which released their first album "Race of a Thousand Camels" (1998). However, the band decided to change labels and signed with Pioneer LDC (now called Geneon) to release Twilight (2001). Following their success with Twilight, the band created their own independent label called Bôa Recordings. Get There was released on 1 February 2005. It took bôa in a new direction, with more structure in lyrics and melody, as well as a more mellow, yet harder-edged/ indie rock format. It also had more acoustic elements than the first album. Following a hiatus, they reformed in the early 20s, releasing new music and touring globally. bôa's current lineup consists of Jasmine Rodgers (vocals & guitar), Alex Caird (bass), and Lee Sullivan (drums & piano).

LYRICS

must be something in the way you move
and the way that you talk and the things that you do
'cos you're failing to convince me
your tired eyes are no disguise to the lies you give
when you try to supply a truth you see
i don't know why

well you're lying again
well you're lying

makes me question what we're fighting for
when the truth seems clear and the proof is near
there's no need for war anyway
your tired eyes are no disguise to the lies you give
when you try to supply that you're failing
to surprise me

well you're lying again
well you're lying

'cos believe me, all the things i've seen before
and the things i've been
believe me, there is so much to see in the world that's free
believe me, there is no such room for things like greed you see
'cos believe me, all you ned to do is change your reality
believe me, there is no such thing as greed in reality
believe me, all the things i have foreseen and i do believe

well you're lying again
well you're lying

tired eyes are no disguise to the way you move
and the things you do to improve
and you're failing

'cos believe me, there is no such thing as truth in reality
believe me, all the things i have foreseen and i know i've been
believe me, there is no such thing as truth in reality
believe me, there is no such room for this in reality
