Biography

American jazz trumpeter, singer and bandleader from the swing era. Born 2 November 1908 in Hilbert, Wisconsin. Died 2 June 1942 in New York City, New York. His 1937 recording "I Can't Get Started" was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1975.
