Britney Spears (born December 2, 1981) is an American singer, songwriter, dancer, actress and businesswoman. Born in McComb, Mississippi, and raised in Kentwood, Louisiana, she performed acting roles in stage productions and television shows as a child before signing with [l=Jive] Records in 1997. Spears was established as a pop icon and credited with influencing the revival of teen pop during the late 1990s. In 1999 she released her first album [Link].
