Hip Hop group form New Rochelle, New York. Original members, [a=Maxwell Dixon] (aka [a=Grand Puba]), [a=Derrick Murphy] (aka [a=Sadat X]), [a=Lorenzo DeChalus] (aka [a=Lord Jamar]), and [a=Alamo] formed Brand Nubian in 1989 after [a=Grand Puba]'s former group, [a=Masters Of Ceremony (2)] disbanded. They signed to [l=Elektra] and released the breakthrough album "One for All", most remembered for the sampling of [a=Edie Brickell]'s 'What I Am' in 'Slow Down'.
