Biography

Born on February 12, 1980, in Alexandria, Virginia, Big Pooh aka [a=Thomas Jones (4)] is an American rapper and songwriter. He is best known as a founding member of the North Carolina hip-hop group [a=Little Brother (3)], alongside [a=Phonte] and producer [a=9th Wonder]. The group formed in the early 2000s while the members were students at North Carolina Central University. Big Pooh launched his solo career with the album Sleepers in 2005. He has since released several solo projects, including The Delightful Bars (2009), Words Paint Pictures (2015, with [a=Apollo Brown]), Home Sweet Home (2015, with [a=Nottz]), and To Dream in Color (2022). His music often explores themes of personal growth, self-reflection, and everyday life. In addition to his work as an artist, Big Pooh has taken on roles as a DJ and artist manager, notably working with Dreamville rapper Lute. He remains active in the music industry, contributing to both group and solo projects.
