Biography
Formed in 2010 as a subset of the Japanese idol group [a4251522], fusing heavy metal styles and J-Pop idol styles together. They became an independent group in 2013, following Suzuka Nakamoto's "graduation" from Sakura Gakuin. In October 2018, after being absent from the band since December 2017 due to health issues, Yui Mizuno ("Yuimetal") parted ways with the band. On April 1st 2023, during their "Black Night" concert at Pia Arena MM in Kanagawa, Japan, they announced that one of their touring backup dancers, Momoko Okazaki (also a former member of Sakura Gakuin), has officially joined Babymetal under the name "Momometal".
