Biography
Swedish medieval-ambient/neoclassical band from Eskilstuna, Sweden. Founded in 1993 and led by Peter Bjärgö. In October 2014 Peter Bjärgö went public with his announcement that he will dissolve the current line-up of Arcana, and their concert in Berlin, Germany on November 1st would be their last. Ann-Mari Thim (vocals) had to undergo emergency surgery in October, so she wasn't allowed to sing on the last gig on November 1st, so the final lineup was: Peter Bjärgö (vocals), Cecilia Bjärgö (vocals), Mattias Borgh (percussion) and Sergio Gamez Martinez (keyboards). In summer 2015 Peter Bjärgö reunited with the original vocalist Ida Bengtsson - they started writing a new album as Arcana - but in late 2016, Ida stopped working with the project due to personal reasons. In April 2017 Arcana reformed again for live performance at Cold Meat Industry 30th Anniversary Festival 2017 on November 4, 2017 with the lineup of Peter Bjärgö (vocals), Cecilia Bjärgö (vocals), Mattias Borgh (percussion), Sergio Gamez Martinez (keyboards) and Stefan Eriksson (keyboards). Next show was on March 10, 2018 at Porta Nigra XIII yesterday in Aarschot, Belgium. Arcana's performances at Wave Gotik Treffen 2018 festival on May 19 and 20 were announced in April 2018 as "the last performances in a very long time". The lineup was updated with Núria Luis on violin. In summer 2022 Arcana reformed again for the performance at Cold Meat Industry 35th Anniversary on November 20, 2022 with the following lineup: Peter Bjärgö (vocals), Cecilia Bjärgö (vocals), Annmari Thim (vocals), Mattias Borgh (percussion), Stefan Eriksson (keyboards).
