American singer songwriter and producer, famous for (co-)influencing the 1970s soft rock sound. Born on August 2, 1951 in Burbank, California, as son of [a=Ernest Gold] and [a=Marni Nixon]. Died from heart failure on June 3, 2011 in Los Angeles, California. He has 3 daughters from his first marriage, of which Emily is also a musician. In the early 1980s he was briefly engaged to [a249839]. Later, until his death, he was married to [a=Leslie Kogan-Gold] who manages his legacy.
