Biography
Brazilian electronic artist. Born: 7 February 1972 in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. Tobin started off under the pseudonym of [a=Cujo] in the mid 1990s, whilst living in Brighton, UK. This alias lived for a series of singles, EPs, and remixes, peaking with the album "[Link]" (1996), all originally on [l=NINEBARecords], and appeared first in the US on the label [l=Shadow Records]. In late 1996, he switched to going by an abbreviation of his own name and signed to the UK label [l=Ninja Tune], where he has resided until 2015's [Link]. Since 2019, he has released on his own label, [l=Nomark Records]. Tobin's recordings have grown from solo creations to collaborations to the point of having a variety of artists help weave live instruments into his latest albums. His live shows, like his music creations, have also evolved over time and appeared in many TV programmes, along with film, and computer games alike. After living in the Brighton, UK for a long period, in 2002 he moved to Montreal, Canada, living in the industrial Old Montreal area to avoid noise complaints after dark. In 2008, Tobin again moved, following new horizons in San Francisco, California, USA.
