Biography

British ska - pop - brit reggae sixpiece - five women and one man Their name means the Zulu people in the Zulu language. Founded by percussionist [a=Sharon Bailey (2)] and their first lead singer Rose Minor which soon was replaced by [a=Annie Ruddock]. Their first line up included bassist [a=Clare Kenny], saxophonist [a=Lesley Beach], guitarist [a=Margo Sagov] and drummer [a=Nardo Bailey]. Their first manager was [a=Chas Chandler]. Former manager of [a=X-Ray Spex] and [a=Adam Ant], [a=Falcon Stuart] discovered them and helped them release their first single [url=http://www.discogs.com/Amazulu-Cairo/release/2065112]"Cairo"[/url]. By the time they released their debut album they had been reduced to a trio ([a=Annie Ruddock], [a=Lesley Beach] and [a=Sharon Bailey (2)]). Soon after 1986 they became a duo, after [a=Lesley Beach] left the trio. They disbanded after their second album, in 1988.
